Vinebox is a quarterly wine subscription box. Each delivery contains 9 different wines to sample, including red, white, and rosé varieties. Members can save 10% or more compared to the price of a glass of wine at a restaurant. Boxes ship every 3 months, in the second week of the second month of every quarter, starting in February.
Vinebox is a great idea for people who love quality wine and are looking for something new to try. Every quarter, they’ll send you 9 new wine samples - enough for a glass of each - that you can try. They select these wines with the idea that you’ll have your own personal wine tasting at home and discover something new each time. If you love what you try, you can buy a whole bottle with the full-size bottle credits they give you each quarter.
To sign up, all you have to do is go to their web page and select “Get Started.” That brings you to a short survey that asks a little about your wine preferences and what kind of membership you’re looking to get. You can choose from quarterly, annual, or just get a one-time delivery. Then you fill in your shipping and billing information, and wait for your first box!
This wine subscription box has a lot to offer! One of the best things about it is the surprise factor. While not being able to choose the wines included in your box might sound like a downside, you can tell the company whether you prefer red or white wines (or let them know you love both equally). Then they’ll put together a box based on your taste.
The idea of this box is to help you discover new wines. That’s why they don’t send full bottles, but instead send a sample glass for you to try. Quarterly subscribers get $15 worth of full-size bottle credit each quarter, and annual subscribers get $30 per quarter. If you love a particular wine, you can use these credits to buy a full bottle to enjoy!
Each quarterly box contains 9 different wines selected by the company’s sommeliers. You’ll get to try several different wines, and each box includes red, white, and rosé wines. Even if you select your preference as red, they’ll still send you white and rosé wines sometimes, just to mix things up.
You’ll get oaked and unoaked wines and some of the highest quality around. A few of them are Malbec, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Merlot. Each box is something new, but the company makes it easy for you to taste them all.
You can choose between an annual, quarterly, or one-time delivery. The pricing options are below:
The One-Time option is the most expensive at $87 per box. This option gives you the 9 wines included in their current quarterly box. This is a one-time purchase and your subscription will not automatically renew.
With the Quarterly option, you’ll be billed every 3 months before your next box ships. This option includes 9 sample size wines and costs $79 per box. In addition to the wines, you’ll also get $15 credit for full-size bottles and save about $9 each quarter.
The Annual subscription is the best deal of the three options. This one is $72 per box, billed once a year. You’ll still get the same 9 sample size wines each quarter, but with this option, you’ll save $60 over the course of the year. You’ll also get $30 of full-size bottle credit each quarter.
Vinebox reviews on their website are overwhelmingly positive. Most reviewers praised the wines and said they look forward to their next box every quarter. They remark that the wines are high quality and many people have fun tasting them with a friend or significant other. People loved the variety included in each box and many purchased full-size bottles of their favorite wines. A lot of reviewers had either given or received the boxes as gifts and gave overwhelmingly positive feedback.
A lot of the more negative Vinebox reviews came down to personal preference. Some people who had ordered the mix of red and white wines assumed they would get a 50/50 split of red and white in their box. This wasn’t always the case, and the website doesn’t specify the ratio of wines in each box. While many people found the quality of wines to be excellent, others did not. Also, some people expected 5 ounce pours when they’re only 3.5-ounce glasses.
Many Vinebox reviews mentioned the company’s excellent customer service. When we looked at the reviews on their webpage, we saw that the company responded to almost every negative review, offering to fix the customer’s problem. Most people loved the service and would recommend it to friends and family.

Since they’re shipping alcohol, an adult must be present to sign for the package when it reaches you.

Vinebox was founded in 2015 by Rachel Vodofsky and Matt Dukes in San Francisco, CA. Both Matt and Rachel used to be lawyers and neither was happy in their careers.
Matt eventually sold everything he owned and bought a ticket to France, where he joined a volunteer program at a vineyard. When he came across small vials used for wine tasting, he got the idea to start a company that let people have their own wine tastings in their homes.
Matt got in touch with Rachel about his new business idea, and the two started the company, complete with many trials and challenges.
