The company prides itself on the variety of different foods, flavors, and regional cuisines that they offer. Each week, you’ll be able to choose from a broad range of recipes you’d like to receive for the following week. Here’s an example of the choices that were available on a recent weekly menu:
Unfortunately, it appears that your mileage will vary with this service. Only approximately 50% of Plated reviews are positive, and there are some complaints about the level of service and value that’s being provided. On Trustpilot, the service received an average of three stars.
On the plus side, reviewers say that the ingredients are high quality and the recipes are easy to follow. Also, it sounds like this service provides better portions when compared to other food delivery services. Many reviewers also loved that the service saved them time at the grocery store, and enabled them to have a quality home-cooked meal more often than they could have without the service.
But, many have had negative experiences, as well. The biggest complaint about the company seems to be about missing ingredients. Many people claim that there have been occasions where an ingredient wasn’t included with the package. These people also say that they were only offered a partial credit for the cost of the meals with missing ingredients.
Others have been unhappy with the level of value they believe the service provides, or with having difficulty canceling the service. Apparently, a few customers continued to receive deliveries for weeks after they canceled the service.
It seems that even the customers who had negative experiences were able to have their issues resolved by the customer service department.
Since we’re dealing with perishables here, Plated is extremely flexible with regards to delivery dates and times. You can cater your delivery for a specific day of the week, and modify your delivery choices at any time. Each week, you’ll receive a delivery of food on the day you specify.

You can cancel your box at any time by visiting the account section of your account. Keep in mind that if your order for the week is already marked as ‘In Progress,' you’ll still be charged for that week’s box, and you’ll receive it on your scheduled delivery day. After that, your subscription will be canceled.
Plated was founded in 2012 by Harvard Business studies Nick Taranto and Josh Hix as a way to make it easier for busy individuals and families to create tasty meals at home with an emphasis on variety, sustainability, and quality. Thanks to appearances on shows like Shark Tank and TechStars, the company’s notoriety grew, and they caught the attention of several investors. In 2017, the company was acquired by Albertson’s for 200 million dollars.
As the company has continued to grow, they’ve been able to work with a broad range of different producers who can offer their customers high quality ingredients that they may not be exposed to otherwise. They pride themselves on dealing with sustainable sources whenever possible, and many of the ingredients they provide are locally sourced, organic and non-GMO.
If you’re looking for a meal delivery service, Plated is certainly one of the most popular, and it’s worth checking out.
