OwlCrate is a monthly subscription box for young adults. Each month, you’ll receive a highly anticipated new book, along with some other surprises, like a handwritten letter from the book’s author. OwlCrate saves subscribers time while also providing them with goodies they can’t get anywhere else. Subscription boxes ship each month between the 15th and the 20th, so you can expect to receive your box towards the end of each month.
Owl Crate offers subscribers a few different options for their subscription box.
One Month | Three Months | Six Months |

$29.99 | $28.99 | $27.99 |
You can save a few dollars each month by pre-paying your subscription for three or six months.
Each month, subscribers receive a new novel geared towards young adults, as well as several goodies. Some of the goodies that are included are exclusive to the box and can’t be found anywhere else. OwlCrate works with small and independent stores throughout the country to source the extras in each box, so a subscription to this service also benefits small and family owned businesses.

In addition to their traditional subscription service, they also offer an option for younger readers ages 8-12 as well, known as OwlCrate Jr. There are also a few different pricing options for this subscription.

The junior box follows the same concept as the box for older readers. Each month, a new box arrives with a book and several goodies that all follow the theme of the book.
Here’s an idea of what subscribers have received in recent boxes:
We have been busy looking everywhere, and at this time, there aren’t any reviews available for this service. Since they are a relatively new subscription box that’s only been available for the past year and a half or so, this is to be expected. Be sure to check back as we’ll be updating this section as reviews become available.
It’s worth noting that their staff appears to be very accommodating and proactive when it comes to handling their subscribers, and their customer service team is easy to reach.
Subscriptions ship the same time every month, regardless of when you sign up for the service. They ship boxes between the 15th and 20th of the month. So, readers can expect to receive their boxes towards the end of every month.
The Jr. boxes ship a bit earlier in the month. They leave the warehouse between the 10th-15th of each month, so for younger subscribers, they’ll receive their boxes about five days earlier.
These boxes ship worldwide. Shipping for those in the United States runs $6.99 per box, while shipping to Canada runs $10.59. Shipping to the rest of the world is $19.99 per box.
Subscriptions are billed on the first of each month.
When it comes to contacting customer service, email is your only option.
Cancelling your subscription couldn’t be easier, and it can be handled entirely from your account on their website. To cancel your subscription, just follow these simple steps:
If you’re looking to skip a month or postpone your subscription, you can also handle that from inside of your account.
For customers who are on a three or six-month subscription plan, skipping a month is a bit more complicated, but it’s still easy to do, just email customer service and let them know you’d like to skip the month.
If you’re looking to cancel your subscription, be sure to do so by the last day of the month. All subscriptions are billed on the first of the month. So, if you cancel after the first, you’ll still receive that month’s box.
The company was founded by Robert Madden and Korinna Ede in February of 2015. The pair serves as co-CEOs of the company. Robert also works on the logistical end of the business, while Korinna focuses on curating new boxes. Like many box services, the pair came from humble beginnings and packed boxes for their subscribers from a makeshift basement office. They quickly outgrew their tiny office, and now, the logistics for OwlCrate are handled from their warehouse in Oregon.
