Le Tote is a women’s fashion subscription service that allows women to rent fashionable pieces for as long, or as short as they would like. Depending on the plan you choose, each box will include several different apparel pieces, and maybe accessories as well. This service may be a great way to try out different fashionable pieces without having to worry about breaking the bank on a new wardrobe. Each tote ships with expedited shipping, so you can expect to receive it within 2-3 business days after your order is shipped.
There are several different subscription options available with this service, designed to fit the different lifestyle needs of their subscribers.
Price Per Month
3 garments, 2 accessories
5 garments, 3 accessories
With the unlimited classic box, you’ll be able to select from their catalog of different apparel and accessories that will arrive at you in each box. Regardless of the subscription you choose, you’ll be able to select whatever you like from their catalog. When you’re ready to return that box, just pack everything up and ship it back. Once they see your package is with the shipping carrier, they begin preparing your next box for shipment.
Price Per Month
2 garments, 1 accessory (excludes handbags and scarves)
3 garments, 2 accessories
With the unlimited maternity box, expecting mothers can take advantage of this popular rental service, as well! These subscription packages are very similar to the unlimited classic box, but they do vary slightly.
The company recognizes that there are going to be occasions where you receive something you love and don’t want to send it back. In that case, you can just buy the item! Every item in each tote is available for purchase at a discount. The discount will vary from piece to piece, so you’ll need to check with them to get a price if there’s an item you want to keep for yourself.
In addition to their subscription options, they offer a retail service as well, where you’re able to buy clothing, instead of rent it.
To get started, just visit their site, create a profile and complete a brief style quiz that indicates your personal style, and the type of clothing you’d like to receive. Then, one of their stylists will put together a box for you and send it off.
Once your box arrives, you have 5 days to decide what you’d like to keep from the box, and what you’d like to send back. If you choose to keep the entire box, you’ll receive a 25% discount off the total. Whatever you decide not to keep, you’ll just send back in a prepaid bubble mailer. Then, they’ll charge your account for the items you decided to keep.
There is a $20 styling fee for each of these select boxes. That fee gets applied as an account credit to any of the items you decide to keep. But, if you choose not to keep anything from the box, you’ll still be responsible for the $20 fee.
For the most part, customers seem to be thrilled with the service and products they’re receiving. On Trustpilot, the company has a 9.1/10 score, and over 100 glowing reviews.
Most subscribers are thrilled with the selection, service, and speed that they receive their boxes. It seems that whenever a subscriber decides to purchase an item from the box they receive, the pricing is very fair and represents a significant discount.
On the other hand, some subscribers have had issues with the cancellation policy of the company, and others have questioned how well the products have been cleaned before being shipped out to other subscribers. For example, one reviewer mentioned that she received a box where several of the garments smelled of smoke.
It does seem that the customer service department is very attentive, and that customer’s concerns are addressed in a timely fashion. The company has an A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau.
All boxes ship with USPS 2 Day Priority expedited service, which is a nice touch. Returns are handled with the same service, so receiving boxes and shipping back old boxes seems to be a very quick process.
As soon as Le Tote is notified by the carrier that your package is en route back to their warehouse, they immediately begin working on your next package, so it’s ready to be shipped out as soon as your return comes in.
On their website, they suggest that it should take approximately five business days from when you ship back your old box until you receive your next one.
Currently, they deliver to any address within the continental US, and there are plans to expand the service to Alaska and Hawaii as well as international destinations.
Customer service can be reached in a variety of different ways:
Cancelling your account is easy to do. To cancel your account, contact their customer service department by phone, email or their contact form explaining that you’d like your account canceled. To avoid being charged for another month of service, make sure that your last tote is returned before your next billing date.
You can also suspend your account as well if you’d like to stop receiving boxes temporarily.
The company was launched by friends Rakesh Tondon and Brett Northart in Spring 2012 as a way to provide women with a practical and affordable new way of outfitting their wardrobe. Both men were inspired by the women in their lives to create the company. Both men came from finance backgrounds and had little experience in the world of eCommerce when they decided to create the company. But, thanks to backing from many of the largest venture capital firms in the country, they were able to hit the ground running and scale Le Tote very quickly.
