Japan Crate, the company behind this kawaii subscription box, has recently teamed up with several big-name brands. This partnership allows them to include fully-licensed merchandise in each box.

Each monthly box is created with a specific theme in mind. Each of the items included relates to this theme.

Every box you receive includes 5 to 7 normal items plus a wearable item (usually a hat, beanie, pair of socks, shirt, or sunglasses) and a “Manga-zine”.

The “Manga-zine” describes each item included in the box in detail. It also features a comic strip as well as details of that month’s Suteki Crate contest.

The Suteki Crate contest is a monthly drawing that every new subscriber is automatically entered in. One winner is selected each month. The winner receives a huge crate full of kawaii items including big-ticket items like gaming system and oversized plushies.

Other Options:

In addition to the monthly subscription boxes, you have the option to buy gift subscriptions for the kawaii fanatics in your life.

No special discounts are given on gift subscriptions. You can purchase gift subscriptions in a 3-month, 6-month, or 12-month increment.

Gift subscriptions are one-time purchases and will not renew automatically (like a normal subscription).

Doki Doki Crate Review

There are currently very few legitimate reviews for this monthly subscription box available online.

Those that are available relate to Japan Crate, the company that provides this kawaii subscription box, and not Doki Doki Crate in specific.

The company has a 5.3 out of 10 rating on TrustPilot. The average rating is 3 stars from a current total of 6 reviews.

It appears that most online reviews praise the overall quality of the products included in the crates. What customers love most about this monthly subscription box are the authentic products, superior packaging, and the overall value of everything included.

For the most part, any negative reviews about the company are related to the overall customer service. It seems that many reviewers have complaints regarding cancellations and refunds.

In addition to TrustPilot, the company also appears on the Better Business Bureau with a B rating.

When Does It Ship?

Your first box will ship around 15 days after your subscription is created.

Each new monthly order is shipped around 15 days after your renewal date. Your renewal date is the day of the month on which your first order is placed.

Pre-paid subscriptions are sent in a slightly timelier manner. Each member’s pre-paid box is shipped out between the 1st and 14th of each month.

All shipments are sent from Japan. According to the company, most orders (outside of Japan) take between 2 and 4 weeks to arrive after they are shipped.

They recommend waiting for at least 6 weeks for each new order before filing a complaint to account for customers, weather, the postal service, and other delays.

Shipping is available to almost all countries around the world.

Shipping costs vary widely depending on the country the box is sent to.

No tracking numbers are available with shipment of your monthly kawaii culture box.

Customer Service Information

There is only one way to contact customer service:

  • check
Create a support ticket on their website

More customer support information is available on the FAQs page of their website.

How Do I Cancel?

You can cancel your monthly kawaii culture subscription box at any time.

Here is the cancellation process:

  • check
    Log into your account
  • check
Click “edit” under “your subscriptions” on the left side of the page
  • check
Select “cancel subscription” at the bottom left-hand corner of the page

Remember to cancel your subscription before the next month’s billing date to avoid unwanted renewals.

You can also cancel your subscription by contacting the company through their online customer support ticket system.

However, the company recommends you cancel your subscription online as canceling through the ticket support system often takes much longer to complete.

Note that canceling 3-month, 6-month, and 12-month subscriptions simply ensures that the subscription won’t automatically renew when the term is up. You’ll still receive monthly boxes until the end of the term.

Company History

Japan Crate was founded by Hank Rao in 2014. The current headquarters are in Tokyo, Japan.

The motivation for creating the company was, according to Rao, to give people that don’t live in Japan the option to buy Japanese snacks, candy, and other items online.

He noticed that most online options to do so were only written in Japanese, making it difficult for many people to order items.

The initial success of Japan Crate (a Japanese candy, snacks, and drinks subscription box) quickly inspired the launch of Doki Doki Crate.

The goal of this kawaii culture crate is to make it easy for people to buy and experience new items that relate to the Japanese cute aesthetic/culture known as kawaii.
