Dinnerly holds the title of the first subscription box to offer meals at $4.99 per serving. The company launched on July 11, 2017, by Marley Spoon. Marley Spoon co-founder and CEO Fabien Siegel said the company aims to make meal-kit delivery services available to a less affluent market. Marley and Spoon, Dinnerly’s parent company, is the more expensive meal-kit option which is partnered with Martha Stewart.
Today, Dinnerly is available nationwide and delivers to 93% of the U.S. Dinnerly is able to keep costs low by limiting packaging (which also reduces waste), using digital recipe cards, and having a fixed weekly menu. The fixed menu allows Dinnerly to buy their fresh ingredients in bulk. Siegel said he lost customers at Marley Spoon because members could not keep up with the cost. Dinnerly is not for the rich, chefs, or experts, but it is for the every-day person.
Dinnerly also boasts an oven mitt as their logo and it is plastered all over their website. So, what is with the mitt? According to them, it is because Dinnerly has your back.
