How It Works

Daily Harvest’s food subscription service pre-measures ingredients into perfect portions and delivers them right to your door.  Daily Harvest prices plan on a weekly or monthly basis. The weekly plan has three different options to choose from; 9, 12, or 24 cups. The price per cup varies depending on your plan.

Daily Harvest makes it easy to get started. After you choose the subscription you want, they will prompt you to create an account and see if they deliver to your zip code. Daily Harvest delivers to 95% of the continental U.S. They will then prompt you to confirm your selected plan and build your first box. Then you will check out and have your meal cups within the next 10 days.

Daily Harvest has six different cups you can choose from. Their smoothie cups are their most popular item, but there are also harvest bowls, soups, lattes, oat bowls, and chia bowls. All the ingredients come portioned and frozen. When you are ready to eat, take it out of the freezer and follow the instructions provided. Some items need to be defrosted and reheated while others just need to be put in the blender.

What Makes Daily Harvest Unique?

Daily Harvest is unlike other food services because they freeze their produce. Their reasoning behind this is to lock in all the nutrients at their peak. Freezing fruits and vegetables at their peak prevent you from losing any nutrients like you would with fresh produce.

This weekly meal service allows members to customize their boxes. They can mix and match items as much as they like. Daily Harvest also has over 50 options, giving members a large selection to choose from. Daily Harvest doesn’t include the liquid to blend the smoothies together. However, they provide recommendations specific to each smoothie.

Many positive reviews were also excited that Daily Harvest is organic and vegan-friendly. It also pleases reviewers from the city with the price point as eating out in Manhattan or any major city can be expensive.

Customers who gave poor reviews expressed similar concerns. They geared a large portion of complaints towards Daily Harvest's customer service. Some said they never heard from customer service at all and ended up just canceling their subscription.

Daily Harvest also received two stars on the Better Business Bureau webpage. They have an A+ rating but are not an accredited business. Of the 12 reviews, most complaints were like those on Trustpilot. They said that customer service was non-responsive and not helpful. Others said they were still sent and charged for boxes after they canceled their account.

Company History

Rachel Drori founded Daily Harvest in 2015. As a busy New York executive and mom, she found it difficult to shop, prep, and cook meals that were healthy and delicious.  Drori also recognizes the bad reputation given to “the freezer aisle” and wants to change that stigma.

Rachel Drori partnered up with Michelin-trained chef Jessica Young, and nutritionist Sara Jane Mercer to create smoothies with maximum health benefits. Today, Daily Harvest has shipped over 500,000 smoothies and other items. They are now expanding into healthy, frozen cookies for something sweet that won’t break your diet.

Rachel Drori wanted to create a product convenient for people on the go, but still healthy and delicious. She brought that vision to life with Daily Harvest. In December 2017, Daily Harvest raised $43 million in Series B funding. Lightspeed Venture Partners led the effort along with VMG partners. Restaurateur Bobby Flay even invested in the company.
